Cal OES Law Branch Chief Mark Pazin Swears in New Assistant Chief Sherri Sarro
SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Law Branch Chief Mark Pazin officially swears in new Assistant Chief Sherri Sarro for San Diego County Region VI.
As a North County native, Sarro joins Cal OES with nearly 28 years of experience in law enforcement, working primarily in the San Diego region for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Most recently, Sarro was head of the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station where she served as the chief of police for Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Prior to moving to the Encinitas station, Sarro was in charge of coordinating the response of law enforcement officers countywide during the massive wildfires that cut across the county in fall 2007.
Sarro was born in North County. She was raised in Vista and is a 1979 Vista High School graduate. She earned her associate degree at Palomar College and her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration at National University. She began her career as a reserve firefighter and emergency medical technician in Deer Springs.
In 1985, she became a reserve officer with the Carlsbad Police Department. Two years later, she made the move to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Sarro has worked with every bureau within the department from jails to patrol, to detective sergeant and school resource officer She’s worked in the divisions responsible for training, court services, human resources —- and of course, emergency services.
