Search and rescue volunteers from around California took part in a large scale training exercise called SAREX 2014. It took place in September at Skyline park in Napa. These volunteers dedicate their time, energy and money to help people get found.
The Napa Valley Storytellers captured the training wonderfully and we wanted to share their great work.
Did you know? The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Law Enforcement Branch sponsors this annual exercise and planing for the 2015 event area well underway.
SAREX moves around Northern California and is hosted by sheriffs’ offices and their search and rescue teams. This year, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the exercise:

Cal OES is charged with the responsibility of coordinating state mutual aid for search and rescue in California. In addition, it receives and coordinates interstate requests under the auspices of the National Search and Rescue Plan. The branch also coordinates all local requests for state and Federal agency assistance. Because search and rescue missions are often life threatening, requests for out-of-county, state or Federal resources can be made directly to CalOES.
